SAVE THIS GENERATION- put a stop to child labour

TADE is a nine year old young bright kid, with great potentials within  if developed ,but her story is such that she has to hawk fruits  of less than a thousand Naira worth on the road  every day. She was made to become the income earner for the family of seven at such an early stage of her life, she was not even given a chance to dream rather was she given a privilege to paint how her future would be only  if she would be given  education.

Children should be given the rights to enjoy life while growing up, they should be cared for until they grow to the age when they are able to make sound and informed decisions. But it is quite a pity, as such is not the case in  this part of the world, few children had an enjoyable childhood, the impeccable child hood they ever pictured in their minds, very few had access to quality education and good standard of living.

It is quite unfortunate that only a very minute of our young population can actually compete with their cohorts in other countries in terms of reasoning, exposure to technology, research facilities and  high standard of living , the reason for this is not far fetched, it is apparent that these other countries value education more than they value money.

Therefore, if our young people who are supposed to be the vision leaders for this country tomorrow are ever going to fully deliver what is expected of them in many years to come, then there is critical need to act now and to invest heavily in their education now, for a better tomorrow .

There are many children  like Tade  with potentials that if properly nurtured will end up profiting not only themselves as the  carriers but the nation at large, but there is so little that could be done with the lackadaisical attitude the society at large puts to the various forms of child labour.
